Bodleian Libraries
The Bodleian Libraries are popular locations for filming and we welcome commercial film and photographic crews of all sizes to our unique historic locations. These range from medieval and later interiors to breath-taking rooftop views of Oxford.
The main quadrangle is surrounded by library buildings on all sides with a large wooden gate at one end. Above the gate is the Tower of the Five Orders – named after the five orders of classical architecture.
The Clarendon Quad houses both the Sheldonian Theatre (not part of the Bodleian) and the Clarendon Building (managed by the Bodleian.)
The Divinity School, a masterpiece of late Gothic Architecture, offers the famous fan-vaulted ceiling and Wren door.
Convocation House, a lovely example of an original 17th Century ‘Parliament House’, has dark oak Jacobean panelling and a medieval style, stone-fan-vaulted ceiling.
