New Theatre, Oxford

There has been a theatre on George Street for almost 185 years. The first theatre was built in 1836, and a second in 1886. In 1908, the Dorrill family took over the venue and finally in 1934, the third Theatre opened; the ‘New Theatre’. We have a beautiful art deco auditorium with a capacity of 1783. We also have a ‘speakeasy’ style piano bar an open plan circle bar and a wonderland themed balcony bar. This is a warren of a theatre with several large ‘old fashioned’ dressing rooms and a substage area with a traditional revolve. We have a basic meeting room, a green room and several empty open spaces. No onsite parking but trucks can unload and head to the park and ride area.
